EDUC 466
Teaching Portfolio
“Education used with insight to the essence of being could be a liberating medium.” (Kokot and Coleman, 121)
As I took EDUC 466, I was given the opportunity to create lessons and teach four classes of first and second grade students at Beattie Elementary under the supervision of Ms. Kimberley Noel. Designing and teaching lessons would not be an appropriate summary of my learning this semester, there is much more. My learning and perception of teaching art has expanded beyond what I could imagine a couple months ago. My teaching team explored how to teach ideation and artmaking is multiple ways, reflected and watched students ideate, and applied our knowledge from readings and discussion. Along with the lesson plans each week, we reflected through a journal entry (ART326) and a blog, the assessment in form of documentation, which was posted to share with professors and peers. The purpose of my Art Journal is to reflect in my growth and learning as a future art teacher. This allowed me to share my experiences as we taught lessons that supported the idea of WONDER LAB.
