BRAINY is a program for students from many schools around Fort Collins to spend a day at the University Center of the Arts, learning and exploring about visual art, music, theater, and dance.
This was an awesome experience as I reflect and look back. In EDUC 466, we taught and made art, while BRAINY/ART 326 revolved a lot around interpretation of other artists' artwork. I think that exposure to art museums is an effective way to connect the real world to the art classroom. It is our responsibility to do that in our classrooms, but I cant imagine if we could do a field trip to an art museum! Students were engaged, asked questions, and interpreted/made observations.
Something that I would further in my tour guiding and facilitating is to continue asking questions.
